New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of veteran actress Sulochana Latkar, who played screen mother to many top stars.
“Sulochana ji’s demise leaves a huge void in the world of Indian cinema. Her unforgettablae performances have enriched our culture and endeared her to generations of people. Her cinematic legacy will live on through her works. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.

Latkar passed away today (June 4) in Maharashtra; According to reports, his last rites will be held on June 5.
She was not only a well-known name in the Hindi film industry, but was also known for her work in Marathi cinema. Sulochana went on to act in popular films like ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Gora Aur Kala’, ‘Sujata’, ‘Devar’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Aae Din Bahar Ke’ and many more.
He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1999. In 2004, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Filmfare Awards. The veteran actress was also honored with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award.
