Closing dates for Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand announced

New Delhi: On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, auspicious time has been decided to close the doors of the four dhams. Even during the outbreak of the Corona period, devotees continued to visit Kedarnath Dham. However, a few days are left for the temple to be closed. Please tell that the valleys of the four dhams are closed due to heavy snowfall in winter. After the closure of the Gangotri Dham (Gangotri Temple), devotees will be able to visit Mother Ganga abroad for their winter stay in Mukhimath (Mukhwa).

Let us know that the holy pilgrimage centers of Chardham open every year in April-May with the arrival of summer season and the winter months close with the beginning of October-November. However, this time due to the lockdown caused by the corona, there was a slight change in opening time. The Char Dham temples, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, are open to pilgrims from April-May to October-November. All temples are closed in winter due to heavy snowfall. Badrinath Dham
It was opened on 15 May 2020 (change due to lockdown) for the Kapat pilgrims of Badrinath Dham and will be closed on 19 November 2020. Badrinath’s opening date is set on Basant Panchami and closing dates were announced on Vijayadashami.

Kedarnath Dham
The gates of the Kedarnath temple will be closed on the auspicious day of Bhai Dooj. Every year the date of inauguration of Kedarnath is announced on the day of Mahashivaratri. The closure date of Kedarnath temple has been fixed on November 16, 2020. Please tell that the gates of Kedarnath temple are closed in winter. This year the Kedarnath temple was opened on 29 April 2020.

Yamunotri Dham
The gates of Yamunotri Dham are opened every year on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. This year, the kapats of Yamunotri Dham will be closed for pilgrims on Bhaiya Dooj, ie on 16 November 2020. This year the Yamunotri temple was opened on 26 April 2020.

Gangotri Dham
Gangotri Dham opens every year on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Gangotri Temple was opened on 26 April 2020 and will be closed on the next day of Diwali. This year the Gangotri temple will be closed for pilgrims on 15 November.

Tungnath gates will be closed on November 4
At the Markandeya temple Makkumath, the date of closing the doors of the third Kedar lord Tungnath was set. On 4 November, after closing the doors of Tungnath, Doli will arrive in Chopta for a night’s rest. Bhankun will sit on 5 November and Winter throne on 6 November in Makumath.


This time the number of devotees going to visit the famous Dham of Uttarakhand, Badrinath and Kedarnath visit has been increased. Now, 3,000 passengers can visit the temple every day. As per the order of Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Board, the maximum number of devotees has been increased to 900 for Gangotri Dham and 700 for Yamunotri Dham. The number of pilgrims who visit these shrines using helicopter service is not included.
