New Delhi: In Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the trend of increasing daily new cases of Covid continues. These states account for 82 per cent of the new cases registered in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, 18,327 new cases were registered. Maharashtra recorded the highest number of 10,216 new cases yesterday. After this, 2,776 new cases have been reported in Kerala and 808 in Punjab. The trend in daily new cases is increasing in eight states.
The total number of active cases in India has reached 1,80,304 today. The number of currently active cases in India is only 1.61 percent of the total infected cases in the country.
On the other hand, 21 states / union territories have less than 1,000 active cases. Only 3 active cases have been reported in Arunachal Pradesh.
The graph below shows the change in active cases for the States / UTs in the last 24 hours. While Kerala, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu have shown a decrease in active cases in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana have seen an increase in active cases during the same period.
The second dose of ovid-19 vaccination began on February 13, 2021 for beneficiaries who have completed 28 days after receiving the first dose. The vaccination of FLW began on 2 February 2021.
The next phase of Covid-19 vaccination began on March 1, 2021. In this phase, vaccines are being given to people over 60 years of age and those 45 years or older who are seriously ill.
According to the provisional report till 7 am today, more than 1.94 crore (1,94,97,704) vaccine doses were given through 3,57,478 sessions. These include 69,15,661 HCW (first dose), 33,56,830 HCW (second dose), 63,55,989 FLW (first dose) and 1,44,191 FLW (second dose), 3,46,758 suffering from serious diseases above 45 years of age. The beneficiary (first dose) and the dose given to 23,78,275 beneficiaries over 60 years of age are included.
Covid has killed 108 people in the last 24 hours. 85.2 percent of new cases of death are related to six states. Maharashtra had the highest number of deaths of 53 patients. In the last 24 hours, 16 people died in Kerala yesterday and 11 in Punjab.
In eighteen states / union territories, no deaths have been reported from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. These states / union territories are Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Ladakh, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
