Netherlands far-right leader Geert Wilders has said he has given a personal letter of support to suspended Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nupur Sharma, calling her “brave”. Wilders, who emerged as a surprise winner in the Dutch elections in November last year, said he looked forward to meeting Nupur Sharma during his visit to India.
Addressing “I hope to meet him one day when I come to India.”
I sent a personal message of support to the brave Nupur Sharma, who is threatened by Islamists for years now only for speaking the truth. Freedom loving people all over the world should support her. I hope to meet her one day while visiting India. #NupurSharma

Nupur Sharma was suspended from primary membership of BJP in 2022 after several Muslim countries formally condemned her statement against Prophet Muhammad during a televised discussion. The debate led to other violent incidents across the country, including the killing of a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan for his support of Nupur Sharma.
Kanhaiya Lal, 48, was murdered with a knife inside his business on June 28, with criminals saying it was to punish him for alleged insult to Islam.
“Appeasement never works. This will make the situation even worse. So, my dear friends from India, do not be afraid of Islamic countries. Stand up for freedom and be proud and firm in defending your truth-speaking politician Nupur Sharma…,” he had said.
