New Delhi: EPF is a savings scheme launched by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). If you are also a PF account holder then there is important information for you. Actually, Employees’ Provident Fund has issued an alert to all its customers. EPFO has issued an alert to its 6 crore PF account holders about personal information and not downloading any kind of app. EPFO has issued this alert on its Twitter handle.
For any employee, the amount of his Provident Fund i.e. PF is the most important. This fund comes in handy after retiring from the job. After you retire, there is a provision to get a fixed income from the provident fund. In the event of the death of a person due to any reason, the amount of provident fund is utilized for the family. PF money goes to the family on the death of the person. For this the person has to be nominated. With this, the nominee gets the PF amount easily after death. If the employee ever needs money from PF in future, he can withdraw a partial amount from this fund. Money is deposited in this, as well as interest is also received on that PF. In such a situation, you need to be very careful about your PF money.
What did EPFO say?
EPFO has advised its account holders to be alert against any fake calls. EPFO has said in the alert, “EPFO never asks for UAN number, Aadhaar number, PAN number or bank details from its account holders on phone calls nor does EPFO make any phone calls to its account holders.”
What to do if a nominee is not made in PF?
If you have not made anyone the nominee of your PF then you can do it easily. Earlier the form had to be filled and submitted to the PF office, but now this hassle is over and you can make a nominee through e-nomination sitting at home.
Visit the official EPFO website. Click on the Services link and then in the Employee option go to ‘For Employees’. Click on Member UAN/Online Services. You will be asked to login. Enter your UAN and Password and click on Login. Click on the Manage tab and select ‘e-Nomination’. You will be redirected to the Provide Details window. Fill all the required information and click on Save. Click Yes for family related details and fill family details. You can add more than one nominee. Now click on ‘Save EPF Nomination’ and click on ‘e-Sign’ to generate OTP. OTP will come on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. Enter it and click on submit and the nominee will be registered in your account.
