Five Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in South Kashmir’s Shopian

Security forces on Monday evening launched an operation to flush out the terrorists in Tupar and Pheripora villages of Shopian. They ended with the killing of five terrorists on Tuesday morning.

During the last 24 hours, four encounters, including these two operations, took place in Kashmir in which a total of seven Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed.

Comparator Operation:

Three Lashkar terrorists were killed in the first encounter in Tuapar village. Police have identified them as Danish Hussain Dar of Ray Kapran Shopian, Yawar Hussain Naikoo of Pehlipora and

Mukhtar Hussain Shah of Sindbal Ganderbal. Police said that Mukhtar was involved in the murder of a roadside vendor Virendra Paswan in Lal Bazar.

The encounter in Dupar started last night after the siege of the village by the police, 34 RR and CRPF. The united parties appealed to the trapped militants to surrender, but they did not agree. “They opened fire which was retaliated,” the police said. He said three terrorists were killed in the ensuing encounter.

Police said the operation was suspended during the night and prima facie the terrorists were killed. A police statement here said, “During the search operation at Tulnar, the terrorists were given repeated opportunities to surrender when they detected the presence of them; instead they fired indiscriminately at the joint search party, which in retaliation.” The encounter took place.” However, the operation was suspended due to darkness, while the cordon was maintained. In the early hours, repeated announcements were made to surrender the hiding terrorists, but the terrorists again attacked the joint search party. There was firing and retaliation was made.

“In the ensuing encounter, three terrorists were killed and their bodies were recovered from the encounter site,” it said. “As per police records, the slain terrorists were affiliated to the banned terror outfit Lashkar (TRF) and remained part of groups involved in several terror crime cases including security installations and civil atrocities. It is pertinent to mention that slain terrorist Mukhtar Shah was involved in the killing of a non-local vendor in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar area and shifted to Shopian after committing the crime,” it added.

Feripora Operation:

The second operation was also launched on Monday evening at Pheripora, when the police, 34 RR and CRPF cordoned off the area on specific inputs of the presence of terrorists in the area. Police said the terrorist did not surrender despite repeated pleas by the officials at the ground level.

The terrorists killed in the Pheripora operation were identified as Ubaid Ahmed Dar of Ray Kapran and Khubib Ahmed Nengru of Baripora and were associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

In a statement, the police said, “The search operation at Pheripora Shopian was also halted overnight and resumed in the early hours. Around 1000 hrs, contact was established with the hiding terrorists and they were given ample opportunities to surrender. It added, “However, they opened indiscriminate fire on the search party, which in retaliation led to an encounter.”

“In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and their bodies were recovered from the encounter site. They have been identified as Ray Kapran, resident of Ubaid Ahmed Dar and Khubib Ahmed Nengru, resident of Baripora. As per police records, both the slain terrorists were affiliated to the banned terror outfit Lashkar and were involved in several terror crime cases.

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. All the recovered materials were taken in the case record for further investigation. Police said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and investigation has been started.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the cases of two target killings have been resolved.

The statement issued by his (IGP) said, “IGP Kashmir congratulates the joint teams working with great synergy and coordination on the ground to carry out anti-terrorist operations in a professional manner without any harm.” It is pertinent to mention that out of 4 recent terror cases of targeted killings in Srinagar and Bandipora, 2 cases have been resolved with the elimination of the terrorists involved.
