Indian Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January to honor the valor of Army soldiers and their selfless service towards the security of the nation and its citizens.
History: The Indian Army was officially established on April 1, 1895. However, it was only in 1949 that the country got its first head. On January 15, 1949, Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from the last British Commander-in-Chief, General Francis Butcher. Since then this day is celebrated as Army Day.
Army Day is celebrated to honor and salute the brave soldiers who laid down their lives to protect the country and its citizens.
