Opener Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten half-century to help England beat India by eight wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the third T20I on Tuesday.
The win has also helped the viewers take a 2–1 lead in the five-match series. In response to India’s 157-run target, England made a stunning comeback from the loss of the opening wicket, leaving Cruise for an easy win with 10 balls to spare.
Jos Buttler smashed 83 off 52 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes and giving good support to Johnny Bairstow (40) as England reached 158/2. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar took one wicket each.
Earlier, India had scored 156 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, with captain Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 77 from 46 balls. Despite his fine innings, other Indian batsmen continued to fight against England bowlers. Fast bowler Mark Wood took three wickets and Chris Jordan took two wickets.
The two teams will once again face off in the fourth T20I, which will take place on 18 March. India’s goal will be to level the series and England will hope to seal the series in the fourth T20I.
