New Delhi: The ICC T20 World Cup started in a very disappointing way for India. India’s first match was against arch-rivals Pakistan and India’s previous record was much better.
In view of this, it was believed that Team India would start the tournament by defeating Pakistan in this match. But quite the opposite happened. Pakistan’s Young Brigade defeated Team India. In the very first match, Pakistan defeated Team India by 10 wickets. The players of Pakistan looked better than India in the whole match, whether it was bowling, batting or fielding.
All these players are the same, who were playing tremendously in the IPL matches held a few days ago. But when it came to playing for the country, all the players got frustrated. After all, why not, the amount of money they get in IPL, they will get only a little here.
Talking about Team India, batting first, both our openers, who were in tremendous form before the match, went back after getting out in 3 overs. Rohit Sharma, who is being talked about as the captain, could not even open his account and got out on the very first ball. After that Rahul also went on after scoring 3 runs.
Then captain Kohli took the lead. Surya Kumar Yadav came to support him, but he too could not last long and got out after making 11. Rishabh Pant, who came after him, saved the shame of Team India by playing a half-century partnership with Kohli. At one point India had lost its 3 wickets by 30 runs. India could barely score 151 runs due to the partnership of Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39). Apart from these two, no Indian batsman could last long in front of Pakistani bowlers.
After making a respectable score, it seemed that India was back in the match, but both Pakistan openers Mohammad Riaz and Babar Azam made India’s bowlers sweat with their tremendous batting and never let India get hold of the match.
Alam was that the bowlers of India kept longing for the wicket, but the Pakistani batsmen did not give them any chance. On the pitch where Team India’s batsmen were craving for runs, Mohammad Riaz scored 79 runs off 55 balls and captain Babar Azam scored 68 runs from 52 balls and easily won the match by 10 wickets. Let us tell you that before this Pakistan had never won by 10 wickets against India.
The thing to note in this match is that Hardik Pandya, who has been playing the role of finisher for the Indian team, could not leave any impact. Seeing him, he felt that he was unfit, but still he was given a place in the team. He scored only 11 runs in 8 balls. He did not come on the field while fielding. This reduced India’s one bowling option. But the question is, why was he selected in the team when he was not fit? Whereas at this time Team India has many options for them.
India’s next match is to be played at this ground on 31 October. In the second match, he will face the New Zealand team. India will be in do or die situation in this match.
