Kochi Water Metro Project: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Kochi Water Metro on 25 April during his two-day visit to the southern state.

The Prime Minister underlined that the Kochi Water Metro is a Made in India project and congratulated the Kochi Shipyard for developing the ports.

The launch of the Kochi Water Metro will provide modern and affordable means of transport to people living in the islands surrounding Kochi, as well as provide intermodal connectivity between the bus terminal and the metro network.

The Kerala Water Metro service will run between High Court-Vypin terminals and Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals in the initial phase.

The cost of a ticket for Kochi Water Metro starts from Rs.20. Weekly and monthly passes will be made available to regular commuters. The Kochi One Card can be used to travel on the Kochi Water Metro. You can also buy tickets online through the Kochi One app.

The Prime Minister said that the Kochi Water Metro project would benefit backwater tourism in the state, besides reducing traffic congestion in the city.

He expressed confidence that the Kochi Water Metro would become a model for other states in the country.
