International Yoga Day-2021: Namaste Yoga App launched

New Delhi: The preview program for the 7th International Day of Yoga was held online late on Friday evening in which two Union Ministers along with several eminent yoga gurus and experienced yoga lecturers came together on a virtual platform to appeal to the world community that people Adopt yoga in your daily life for the betterment of yourself and humanity. During the event, a mobile application dedicated to Yoga ‘Namaste Yoga’ was also launched.

In this one hour long program organized by Ministry of AYUSH in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Shri Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Kiren Rijiju presented the central theme of International Yoga Day-2021. Underscored the importance of ‘Stay at home with Yoga’ while spiritual leaders and yoga gurus of international repute and followers such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Behen Shivani and Swami Chidananda Saraswati spoke about the deep spiritual dimension to its daily life and COVID-19. Emphasizing the various unique and comprehensive features of Yoga, up to the respective utility. Several other eminent personalities also graced the ceremony with their deep messages.

On this occasion, Prakash Javadekar said that Yoga is the way to a healthy and happy life. The government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striving to promote yoga among all sections of the society.

AYUSH Minister Kiren Rijiju informed about the 10-day series on Doordarshan on International Yoga Day-2021 and said that the basic message of this series is ‘Stay with Yoga, Stay at Home’ which is relevant in the present times of health emergency. is. The usefulness of yoga in promoting health and in the management and prevention of diseases is well established. The benefits of yoga in the direction of building immunity and relieving stress have been demonstrated by evidence. The Minister said, “The Ministry aims to bring more citizens under the ambit of the activities of International Day of Yoga as compared to previous years and thereby spread the physical and emotional well being achieved through Yoga to all sections of our society. The Minister, formally launching a mobile application dedicated to Yoga, ‘Namaste Yoga’, said that it has been designed as an information platform for the general public. Its aim is to raise public awareness about yoga and make it accessible to the wider community.

Yoga gurus stressed that yoga is not just about physical health but it is related to overall wellness which is of paramount importance in this time of pandemic. Yoga gurus clearly gave their message, ‘Yoga is about life and practicing yoga is the path in which we need to change our lifestyle.’

Participating in the programme, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that the world is in crisis today and yoga shows the way out of it amid the pandemic. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev emphasized on the practical aspect of yoga and reiterated that to practice yoga is to lead a blissful life. Swami Chidananda Saraswati said that Yoga is not just a treatment which has been practiced since time immemorial but it is also a way of life. Dr. HR Nagendra, Vice Chancellor of S Vyas University said that Yoga is a science of holistic life. Mother Hansaji Jaidev, Sister Shivani, Swami Bharatbhushan, Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Dr. BN Gangadhar, Kamlesh D Patel, O P Tiwari, Yogacharya and S. Sridharanalso also shared his views.

Ayush Secretary Vd. Rajesh Kotecha and Joint Secretary PN Ranjit Kumar underlined the role played by the Ministry of AYUSH and its commitment to facilitate expansion of the reach of Yoga in a collaborative manner.

The preview program also marked the start of a 10-episode series on various aspects of the Common Yoga Protocol to be aired on DD India from June 12 to June 21 at 7 pm (Indian Standard Time). The series is produced by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).

The program also included an intermediate panel discussion in which Dr. IV Basavaradi, Director, MDNIY and Sanjay Dev, Media Advisor, Ministry of AYUSH participated.
