New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the Indian Premier League in Sharjah on Friday. CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first, which proved to be correct. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 156/6 in 20 overs. Chasing this score, CSK easily achieved this target in 18.1 overs.
Batting first, RCB laid a solid foundation with skipper Virat Kohli (53) and Devdutt Padikkal (70) putting up a solid 111 for the opening wicket. But the later batsmen lost their wickets in a hurry. RCB stumbled after a good start and were able to target only 157 runs.
CSK got off to a good start. Ruturaj Gaikwad (38) and Faf du Plessis (31) added 71 runs for the first wicket. But due to the simultaneous dismissal of both the openers, CSK got into trouble. Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu, who came after them, also hit some catchy strokes. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina chased down the target of 157 runs.
For CSK, India pacer Thakur finished with impressive figures of 2/29 in four overs, while Bravo bowled excellently to take 3/24.
