Ranveer Singh to waive the pending fee for Kabir Khan’s film after huge box office losses
The decision has come. Ranveer Singh’s 83 is not a blockbuster as expected. Kabir Khan’s film is getting love on Twitter but the on-ground emotion is not what people expected.
Everyone was hoping that it would be a historical retelling of the final story of the victory of the Dalits. While the film has been praised by critics, the actual numbers are on par. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the makers’ team is quite upset, and the blame game may start soon.
An insider told Bollywood Hungama’s Subhash K Jha that the film felt like a documentary on the 1983 World Cup. It seems to have been pointed out by some of the production guys when the film was being made.
Also, the makers exceeded their budget as they were very confident about its success. Looks like they shot at Lord’s Stadium in London, where there is a really high fee. Sources said that the makers could have shot only in any major stadium in India.
“But the critics were shut down by those in the film unit who were absolutely confident of bringing the audience to the theatres,” the source was quoted as saying. But what has failed the film is the release period. It competes with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Spider-Man No Way Home. Both these films are doing great at the Pan-India box office.
Looks like Ranveer Singh’s fee is not fully paid. A large part is pending. The young superstar may have to drop it so that the makers can make up the loss.
83 is another defeat for Kabir Khan after Tubelight. The film had an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Hardy Sandhu, Ammi Virk, Adinath Kothare, Sahil Khattar, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi etc. This is indeed a setback for Ranveer Singh!
