Maharashtra Covid-19: Corona infection surge, 15,817 cases a day

Mumbai: In Maharashtra, cases of Corona infection are increasing day by day. A health department official said that the 2021 highest one-day spike was recorded in Maharashtra for the third consecutive day on Friday, with 15,817 new infection cases reported. The total number of cases in the state now stands at 22,82,191, while the death toll has reached 52,723 with 56 deaths.

The state reported more than 15,000 cases on October 2 last year, after which new cases declined. But last month, there was a spurt in cases and 13,659 and 14,317 cases were registered in the state on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, 11,344 patients were discharged from hospitals, with 21,17,744 recoveries in the state so far. There are 1,10,485 active cases in the state.

Pune city recorded the highest number of 1,845 new cases followed by Nagpur with 1,729 cases and Mumbai with 1,647 cases. The Pune division comprises the civic bodies of Pune, with Pimpri Chinchwad as well as Pune, Solapur and Satara districts registering a total of 3,580 cases, the highest among the divisions. The number of cases so far in Pune division is 5,53,064 and the death toll is 11,832.

The incidence of corona infection in Mumbai increased to 3,40,290 and the figure reached 11,523 with 4 new deaths. The Mumbai division reported 3,137 new cases and 11 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 7,52,986 and the number of deaths from this deadly disease to 19,932.

The Nashik Division case so far was 3,12,328 and the death toll was 5,357. The Kolhapur division has so far recorded 1,20,859 cases and 4,084 deaths, while the Aurangabad division had 88,467 cases and 2,085 deaths. There have been 90,774 cases and 2,557 deaths in Latur division so far. Akola division has reported 1,14,655 cases while 1,893 people have fallen victim to the disease so far. There have been 2,48,912 infections and 4,893 deaths in the Nagpur division so far.

With 97,274 tests conducted on Thursday, the state has so far tested 1,73,10,586 samples of the corono virus. There are 5,42,693 people in the domestic quarantine, while 4,884 people are in the quarantine.
