Mohan Bhagwat is ‘Father of the Nation’, says top Muslim cleric after RSS chief visits mosque

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat met Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, the head of All India Imam Sangathan, in Delhi on Thursday.

All India Imam Sangathan chief Umar Ahmed Ilyasi called Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat as ‘Father of the Nation’ (Father of the Nation). RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who has been reaching out to Muslim leaders, met the prominent cleric in Delhi on Thursday.

“Mohan Bhagwat ji came on my invitation today. He is the ‘Father of the Nation’ and the ‘Rishi of the Nation’, his visit will send a good message. Our ways of worshiping God are different, but the biggest religion is humanity. We believe that the country comes first,” said Omar Ahmed Ilyasi.

Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday visited a mosque and a madrasa in Delhi and held discussions with the head of the All India Imam Sangathan.

The ‘Sarsanghchalak’ of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh went to a mosque at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in central Delhi and then visited Madrasa Tajveedul Quran in North Delhi’s Azadpur.

This is the RSS chief’s second meeting with Muslim intellectuals in a month. Earlier, Mohan Bhagwat had met five Muslim intellectuals to “strengthen communal harmony”.

RSS spokesperson Sunil Ambekar said the meeting was part of a continuous discussion process. “The RSS sarsanghchalak meets people from all walks of life. This is part of the ongoing normal dialogue process,” he said.

The closed-door meeting between Mohan Bhagwat and Imam at Kasturba Gandhi Marg Masjid lasted for over an hour.
