National post week starts, all facilities are being provided by setting up camp

New Delhi: Virtual camps / workshops will be organized on different days at the circle level for postal stamp collection, savings account opening, IPPB accounts, Aadhaar seeding and receiving PLI / RPLI proposals. Indian Post has started National Postal Week with World Post Day, which is celebrated every year on 9 October, which is the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern in 1874. The purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness about the role of the postal sector in the everyday lives of people and businesses and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. Taking it a step further, the Department of Posts organizes programs and activities under National Postal Week with the aim of spreading wider awareness about its role and activities among the public and media at the national level.

Following are the programs of World Postal Day and National Postal Week celebrations for this year. Day-wise activities during National Postal Week:

World Post Day (9 October): Organizing Post Forum meeting within the Post Office premises, posting news related to World Post Day and National Post Week celebrations on the websites of the Divisions; Workshops for staff on soft skills, public interactions and general etiquette. No Circle will issue advertisements in print media on this day.

Banking Day (10 October): Savings Bank Camps / Fairs should be organized so that maximum number of POSB / IPPB accounts can be opened on the occasion of Banking Day and the general public can be made aware of the savings bank products of the department. Apart from implementing IPPB branches and access points, the public will be made aware of new features like AEPSS and facilities as well as benefits so that maximum number of accounts can be opened.

Postal Life Insurance Day (October 12): Priority should also be given to PLI Claim Settlement to reduce settlement of claims pending till PLI Day.

Philately Collection Day (13 October): The Department of Stamps is planning and organizing events in the National Philately Museum on all days during National Postal Week. The Department of Philately is also considering introducing postage collection products (tie, scarf, bag, mug etc. depending on the ticket subjects). The circles are opening new PD accounts and ensuring that the service of existing PD accounts is not pending on postage collection day.

Business Development Day (14 October): Circle will interact with current and potential customers on Business Development Day.

Postal Day (15 October): Keeping in mind the situation of Kovid-19, the role of postmen will be highlighted. An attempt will be made to use the PMA 100 per cent so that delivery information is available and the customer has no opportunity to complain.

Several activities have been planned / proposed in this regard:

Activities at Circle Level:

Decoration and cleaning of all post offices, post offices and administrative offices along with old hoardings / removal of old notices and removal of old records etc.

Various activities will be organized at the Circle level for National Postal Week.
