After introducing the Gloster Savvy 7-seater variant, MG Motors has now officially announced the launch of the new Hector Shine variant.
This mid-level variant is scheduled to launch on August 12, 2021. It will be offered to take on the increasing competition from the likes of Tata Harrier and the soon-to-be-launched Mahindra XUV700.
MG Hector is currently available in 4 trim levels – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The new Shine trim is expected to be positioned between the Super and Smart trims. The new model will offer more features than the Super variant. In fact, the Hector Shine has already been spotted during testing.
The new MG Hector Shine variant will come with a single pan sunroof, as opposed to the panoramic sunroof that is available on the higher variant. The vehicle is also expected to be equipped with a 360-degree camera. Official details will be revealed on August 12; However, it is likely to come packed with features like a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, LED tail-lamps and LED rear fog lamps.
The new trim is likely to be offered only in the diesel variant. The diesel Hector is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 170bhp power and 350Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Other engine options include 143bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre mild-hybrid technology. The regular petrol engine is available with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
MG Motors will also launch a new mid-size SUV based on the ZS EV in the country this year. The company has confirmed that the new mid-sized SUV will get Jio-powered internet features.
Rumored to be called the MG Astor, the new SUV will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushak and the soon-to-be-launched VW Taigun. It will be offered only in the petrol version.
After launching the facelifted Hector in January 2021, MG Motor India is all set to introduce a new mid-spec trim in the lineup of SUVs tomorrow. Named ‘Shine’, it will be positioned between the second-to-base Super and the second-to-top Smart. Here are the additional features, powertrain and supporting details.
It will get both petrol and diesel engines but petrol-hybrid setup and petrol-DCT auto combination will not be available.
The new Shine trim will be positioned between the Super and Smart.
It gets some extra features over the Super, including a sunroof and push-button start/stop.
MG will also offer it with an accessories pack, which includes a wireless charger and an air purifier.
It is expected to command a premium of Rs.60,000 over the Super trim.
