PM Modi lays foundation stone for permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur, Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur in Odisha today, January 2. The ceremony was conducted through video conferencing at 11 am today.

Ahead of the ceremony, PM Modi had also tweeted that he looks forward to students and those in the world of startups joining the programme. He also said that India is proud of the rich contributions of IIMs to national progress.

The ceremony was also attended by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who said, “Education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transition. I am happy that our state continues its dominance in the education sector & has emerged as the education hub of Eastern India.”

The ceremony was also attended by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Pratap Chandra Sarangi, as per an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Scope of startups increasing: PM Modi
While addressing the attendees of the ceremony in IIM Sambalpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about how the scope of start-up companies is growing in India.

He said, “Today’s startups are the multinational companies of tomorrow. Most startups are coming up in tier II & III cities of the country. From the farming sector to the space sector, the scope for startups is increasing.”
