‘Policegiri Dikhayega’: Uniformed constable slapped by a man in public view in UP’s Lucknow

Lucknow: In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a policeman in uniform was openly slapped twice by a man. After a video clip capturing the moment went viral on social media, four people, including the one who slapped the cop, were arrested.

A video of a man slapping a policeman several times has surfaced. After the video clip went viral, the police arrested four people. According to the police, the incident happened due to road rage.

The arrested people have been identified as Ashish Shukla, Priyank Mathur, Pravendra Kumar, and Pranjul Mathur. The four are accused of assaulting Vinod Kumar, a sub-inspector rank policeman serving in Pilibhit Kotwali.

The concerned policeman said that the incident took place when he was returning from the office of the Minorities Commission. He was traveling in a four-wheeler. ACP (North Zone) Prachi Singh said that, “When he reached Niralanagar, a bike suddenly came to the fore and to save him his car hit the wrongly parked cars in front of a hotel and hit it.”

Following this, a group of five people came out of the hotel and thrashed the policeman, who was slightly intoxicated. The gang also robbed their valuables. A 27-second video clip shows Ashish Shukla, one of the accused, slapping a police officer in uniform twice in front of a crowd of onlookers. Attacking the police, Shukla can be heard saying: “Policegiri dikhayega” (as you will show and tell us what policing is).

Based on the complaint lodged by the policeman, a case has been registered against Ashish Shukla, Priyank Mathur, Pravendra Kumar, Pranjul Mathur and other unidentified persons under various provisions. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused.

This comes days after a sub-inspector in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh was injured after being shot in the leg by two bike-borne criminals. After the incident, the constable was taken to the hospital and raids were started to nab the culprits.
