Six people arrested in connection with the death of Karnataka Bajrang Dal worker Harsha

Harsha was stabbed to death on Sunday night in Bharati Nagar of Shivamogga, Karnataka.

The Karnataka Police has arrested six persons in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Harsh, a Bajrang Dal worker who was stabbed to death in Karnataka’s Shivamogga on Sunday, February 20.

Shivamogga SP Lakshmi Prasad said that six people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing incident.

The accused have been identified as Asif, Syed Nadeem, Rehan Sharif, Nihan, Abdul Afnan and Kashif. A total of 12 people were questioned and six were arrested.

Harsh’s father had alleged that Muslim miscreants killed his son because he was a Bajrang Dal worker. Harsha was murdered on February 20 and an FIR was registered on the basis of the father’s complaint.

On Monday, protests in Shivamogga over Harsh’s death turned violent as protesters started pelting stones, setting weapons and even vehicles on fire. To ensure that the situation did not get out of hand, the police had to resort to tear gas to disperse the crowd.

A total of 19 incidents of protest took place in Shivamogga after the murder. At least 18 vehicles were destroyed, eight local residents were injured and four cases of arson were registered.

Meanwhile, Section 144 imposed in Shivamogga after the murder has been extended for two more days. All schools in the area will also remain closed for two days.
