Encroachment Drive: South Delhi Municipal Corporation will run encroachment drive from May 9

New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has asked the Delhi Police to deploy its police force to launch an encroachment drive from May 9 to May 13.

The force is required to cover areas like Shaheen Bagh, Kalandi Kunj, Jasola, MG Road. Delhi Police can take help of paramilitary forces in Shaheen Bagh area. Earlier, the officials had to face hurdles in carrying out the operation in the area.

A few days ago, the Delhi Police, in a letter to the SDMC, said that due to pre-engagement or pre-engagement of the staff and personnel of Sarita Vihar police station in other law and order or investigation duties, this was not possible.

Provide adequate personnel to assist SDMC staff in carrying out anti-encroachment drive in Ward No. 101-S (Sarita Vihar).

It is requested that prior notice of at least 10 days may be given for fixing the date of encroachment removal drive in Sarita Vihar police station area so that adequate staff can be given to assist the SDMC employees.

An encroachment drive is being planned in SDMC areas after Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta wrote to the mayor on April 20 urging removal of encroachments by “Rohingyas, Bangladeshis and anti-social elements”.
