TN Assembly Poll: Sacked AIADMK chief VK Sasikala leaves politics

Ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala was sacked on Wednesday 3 March, releasing a statement stating that she was quitting politics.

In his statement, he asked the supporters of AIADMK to unite and fight against the DMK in the assembly elections, which was to be held on 6 April.

He said in his statement, “All supporters should work together in the upcoming elections, assuming that we are children of the same mother.”

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the supporters of the party, who showed great affection for him and late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

With great pomp, Sasikala returned to Chennai on February 8 after being sentenced to four years in corruption charges at Parappana Agrahara Jail, Bangalore. She was released on 27 January.
