Tourism Ministry showcases various tourism estates under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign

New Delhi: India is currently in an unlocked phase and the Ministry of Tourism and its regional offices are organizing and supporting various tourism promotion programs under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign.

These programs are showcasing various tourism assets and products of the country with the aim of spreading awareness among stakeholders and citizens.

The India Tourism, Kochi office of the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Kerala Home Stay and Tourism Society (HATS) recently held a workshop with the owners of the Homestays / B & B units to apprise them about the scheme related to the Homestays / B & B units of the Ministry of Tourism. organised. Information about fund and partner certification was also given in the workshop, which was specially introduced for the hospitality industry. The workshop was attended by owners of 54 Homestays / B & B units from Kochi and neighboring districts.

In another event, India Tourism Kochi along with District Tourism Promotion Council Ernakulam, Kerala supported the 13th edition of a week long extravagant cultural festival of Ulasavam with the aim of reviving Kerala’s unique cultural heritage. The festival showcased 28 arts from Kerala with participation of around 200 artists. The festival was inaugurated by the Mayor of the Cochin Corporation and Mr. Hibi Eden, Member of Parliament gave the inaugural address.

The India Tourism Bangalore office of the Ministry of Tourism organized a domestic tourism roadshow on February 22, 2021, under the initiative “Dekho Apna Desh”, which showcased the potential of tourism in Buddhist circuits and pilgrimage sites in Uttar Pradesh. The roadshow was attended by 16 tour operators from Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF) and B2B meetings with Karnataka travel agents / tour operators were also held during the event.

The India Tourism, Mumbai office of the Ministry of Tourism participated in the India International Travel Mart (IITM) held in Pune on 23-24 February 2021, showcasing various tourism products from India and providing information to visitors. This is the second exhibition in the western region, in which India Tourism Mumbai has physically participated after the venues were unlocked.

The India Tourism Hyderabad and Varanasi offices of the Ministry of Tourism jointly organized “Visit Uttar Pradesh” in Hyderabad on 24 February 2021 under ‘Dekho Apna Desh’. The roadshow was attended by travel traders from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as well as 17 travel business representatives associated with Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF).

The India Tourism, Delhi office of the Ministry of Tourism organized a field trip cum morale boosting program for regional level guides at Sundar Nursery, which was attended by 70 RLGs. The regional director shared about his experience as well as the MOT initiative to encourage domestic tourism and RLG participation. A quiz competition on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was also organized for him.

A workshop on river tourism was organized on 22 February 2021 by the Ministry of Tourism, India Tourism, Guwahati. The workshop was attended by 35 stakeholders and emphasized the importance of river cruises / cruise tourism in the North East region and India.
