UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates construction of Agra Metro Tunnel

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated the construction of the Agra Metro Rail Tunnel at a foundation stone laying ceremony held at the Ramlila Maidan in front of the Agra Fort.

On reaching the launching shaft at Ramlila Maidan, the CM first signed the ring segment, offered prayers and then pressed the button to formally start the tunnel construction. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) in Agra is named after the Ganga and the Yamuna.

This tunnel boring machine will prepare tunnels up to 10-12 meters every day. Two parallel tunnels for the up and down tracks are to be constructed in the underground portion of the Agra Metro by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Corporation.

In his brief speech on the occasion, CM Yogi said that Metro Rail and the upcoming G-20 event will promote Agra globally as an important investment and tourist destination.

He said: “G-20 is a grouping of the most prestigious countries in the world. India has the honor of chairing the Forum under the leadership of PM Modi. Four cities of Uttar Pradesh have been selected to host the G-20 summit Out of which three meetings will be held in Agra.

The first summit will be held on February 10, 11, 12 and 13 while the second summit will be held in August, 2023. A total of 11 meetings of G-20 will be held in Varanasi, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Agra. ,

Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing preparations for the G-20 in Agra, CM Yogi said, “With the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future…’ we welcome the guests to India’s rich heritage.” Will present the legacy. to the delegates as ‘God’ (Atithi Devo Bhava).

CM Yogi Adityanath said work on the six-metre-long priority corridors, elevated and underground tunnels of 3 km each, being built as part of the Agra Metro, is in full swing and is expected to be completed before six months.

According to the CM, the deadline for completion of the priority corridor is August 2024, but the officials are going ahead with full commitment to complete the work 6 months earlier by following TTZ guidelines and complying with all environmental norms Are. Yogi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had participated in the Bhoomipujan ceremony of Agra Metro in December 2020.

The construction work of two underground tunnels for Ganga and Yamuna with the help of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) named Ganga-Yamuna started today. CM Yogi said, “I am happy that all standards regarding environment and safety are being taken care of in the construction.”

“In Uttar Pradesh, we are already running metro services in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and Kanpur. For the development of public transport in Agra as well as tourism facilities and better employment generation, the honorable public representatives have been demanding this state-of-the-art means of public transport for a long time.

CM Yogi said that the work on this project is going on fast and it will be completed on time. According to him, Agra Metro will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The Chief Minister also thanked the public representatives and people for their cooperation.
