UP Police and ATS got a big success, two suspected Al Qaeda terrorists caught from a house in Lucknow

New Delhi: In a major operation, the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday arrested two terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda from Kakori on the outskirts of Lucknow. Two militants were reportedly hiding in a house in the Kakori area. The ATS team had received a tip-off about his presence and was keeping a watch on him for the past week.

A team led by IG ATS, GK Goswami was near his location, from where both of them were arrested at once, which belonged to Shahid. Wasim was a tenant in the house for the last 15 years. The house has a motor garage.

According to ATS sources, two pressure-cooker bombs, a detonator and 6 to 7 kg of explosives have been recovered from the house. Bomb disposal squad has been called to the spot and surrounding houses have been evacuated.

The IG did not reveal the names of the arrested persons and said that further details would be revealed after questioning.

ATS sources said that preliminary investigation revealed that the two terrorists had planned to target a BJP MP and some senior BJP leaders in Lucknow.
