Veteran NDTV journalist Kamal Khan passed away on Friday at the age of 61 due to a heart attack. Khan is survived by his wife Ruchi and their son Aman.
Khan was the executive editor of NDTV. He was a recipient of the Ramnath Goenka Award and the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award from the President of India.
In an email, the company said, “This is a terrible, terrible day for NDTV. We have lost Kamal Khan; He was 61 years old and the heart and soul of our Lucknow bureau, an NDTV veteran who had boundless time and kind words for anyone who came.
NDTV further said, “Kamal’s report over the past decades stood out for his intelligibility, integrity, and the way he presented difficult truths with poetic mastery. Above all, he was a wonderful human being who has contributed to the lives of all of them. touched those who knew him.”

Several members of the media fraternity and politicians paid tribute to Khan. Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai said, “Very sad news to report this morning. Kamal Khan, one of NDTV’s finest reporters and dear friends from Lucknow, passed away this morning. I will miss you dearly my friend and our long chat. Many more Memories! Devastated. Peace”
Expressing her grief, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said, “The news of the sudden demise of Kamal Khan, a well-known and eminent TV journalist associated with NDTV, is a very sad and irreparable loss to the journalism world. My deepest condolences. Family and all their loved ones. Wishing such nature, may nature give strength to all to bear this loss.
