Veer Bal Diwas will empower Indians to take pride in their identity: PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed Guru Gobind Singh’s efforts against Aurangzeb’s terrorism and his intention to transform India.

The PM said, ‘Aurangzeb and his people wanted to convert the children of Guru Gobin Singh on the strength of the sword.’

Speaking at the first ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ event, PM Modi paid tributes to Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, sons of Guru Gobind Singh, who laid down their lives defending their faith.

“On one side there was terrorism and on the other side spiritualism. On one side there was communal violence and on the other side liberalism. On one side there was an army of lakhs and on the other side there were only Veer Sahibzads who would not move at all,” he said, referring to the Guru’s two martyred children.

Paying tributes to the great men for their courage and sacrifice, the PM said that Veer Bal Diwas will remind us to celebrate our past and inspire us to build our future.

The PM said, “The history of the world is replete with examples of atrocities. The battles of Chamkaur and Sirhind were fought three centuries ago, with the Mughal sultanate being blind to communal extremism on the one hand and our gurus on the other.”

Sahibzade is inspiring generations. A country which has such a history should be full of confidence, but unfortunately in the name of history, we are taught only a few narratives, which leads to an inferiority complex: PM Modi

The PM said that if we have to take India to the heights of success in the future, then we need to break free from the narrow thoughts of the past.
