MUMBAI: The much-awaited film Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, opened to a bumper opening day on the big screen this Friday.

The film has made a strong opening with 10.5 crores on the first day and is expected to climb higher over the weekend, especially in metro cities. Advance booking was also phenomenal, leading to an increase in the opening figures of the film.

Alia Bhatt starrer The film opened with double digits despite having 50% occupancy in cinemas in most cities (especially Mumbai and Delhi), and surpassed all expectations despite limited night shows. The focused film proves to be the opening.
