Covid-19, Strain update: 25 new cases in Pune, the number of infected 58

New Delhi: The infection of the new virus strain of Corona started in Britain is increasing continuously in India. Recently 25 new cases have been reported in NIV Pune Lab. After this, the number of new corona strains infected in India has reached 58.

From 25 November to 23 December 2020, approximately 33,000 passengers arrived at various Indian airports from the UK. All these passengers are being tracked by states through RT-PCR tests to detect new virus strains of Kovid-19.

Infected samples are being tested in 10 INSACOG labs (NIBMG Kolkata, ILS Bhubaneswar, NIV Pune, NCCS Pune, CCMB Hyderabad, CDFD Hyderabad, INSTEM Bengaluru, NIMHANS Bengaluru, IGIB Delhi and NCDC Delhi) for genome securing.

All these newly infected persons are being kept in single room isolation as per the designated health care facilities by the respective state governments. Also, the people in contact with him have also been kept in Quarantine. Comprehensive contact identification work has been started to obtain information related to co-travelers, family contacts, and other persons. Genome sequencing is also underway on other samples.

The situation is being carefully monitored and regular advice is being provided to the states for monitoring, control, testing and dispatch of samples to the insoc labs.

Which countries found a new strain?
First of all, the new strain of coronavirus was confirmed in Britain, after which it has spread to many countries. The new strain has been found so far in the UK, India, USA, China, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Japan, Lebanon, Singapore, and Nigeria.
