Kangana Ranaut reacts to withdrawal of farm laws

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is always in the news for her outspoken and controversial statements. The actress stirred up a hornet’s nest recently when she said that the freedom that India attained in 1947 was given to the nation as a handout by the British.

Kangana was speaking at a media summit when she gave the controversial statement saying that “India got true freedom only in 2014”.

Now the actress has expressed her disappointment over PM Modi’s decision to repeal the three contentious farm laws.

Kangana took to her Instagram stories to share her views on the same. She wrote,”Sad, shameful, absolutely unfair. If people on the streets have started to make laws and not the chosen government in the Parliament, then even this is a jihadi nation. Congratulations to all who wanted it like this.”

Celebrities like Himanshi Khurana, Sonu Sood and others have hailed PM Modi’s decision.

Actor Sonu Sood wrote,”This is a wonderful news! Thank you, @narendramodi ji, @PMOIndia , for taking back the farm laws. Thank you, farmers, for raising just demands through peaceful protests. Hope you will happily return to be with your families on the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji today.”

Himanshi Khurana took to her Instagram handle and congratulated all the farmers. She wrote “Finally victory is yours, many congratulations to all the farmers. A big gift of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv. Happy Gurpurab.”

Kangana recently shared the first look poster of her upcoming film “Tiku weds Sheru”. The film stars Avneet Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.

Kangana’s other upcoming projects include ‘Dhakkad’ and ‘The Incarnation-Sita’,the period drama “Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda” and “Tejas” . Besides this, Kangana will also don the director’s hat for “Emergency”, based on the life of late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In the film ‘The Incarnation-Sita’ Kangana will be seen playing the role of goddess Sita.The film will be directed by Alaukik Desai and will reportedly be released in five languages- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu Malayalam and Kannada.

‘Dhakkad’ is a spy thriller. The film also stars Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta. In the film, Kangana plays Agent Agni, who takes on the twin menace of child trafficking and exploitation of women. Directed by Razneesh Ghai, ‘Dhaakad’ is slated to hit the screens on April 8, 2022.

In “Tejas” Kangana plays the role of a fighter pilot. The Indian Air Force was the first of the country’s defence forces to induct women into combat roles in 2016. The film takes inspiration from the landmark event. ‘Tejas’ is directed by debutant Sarvesh Mewara. The film will be RSVP’s second film which pays a tribute to the Indian military after the immensely successful film “Uri: The Surgical Strike” which was released in January 2019.
