Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan arrested in corruption case
Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan has been taken into custody by the paramilitary force, local GEO TV reported on Tuesday.
The broadcaster reported that Khan was taken into custody from a court complex in Islamabad in connection with a corruption case.
Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for confirmation of the report.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was arrested by Pakistan Rangers outside Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, Dawn reported.
Confirming his arrest on Twitter, PTI leader Musarrat Cheema said, “They are torturing Imran Khan right now, they are beating Khan sahib. They have done something with Khan sahib.”
After being removed from his position as Prime Minister through a no-confidence vote in April of the previous year, Khan has been linked to more than one hundred incidents. He believes that the US-led conspiracy was aimed at him because of his independent foreign policy decisions regarding Russia, China, and Afghanistan.
