An unidentified person threw a stone at the window panes of the recently launched Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express train in Chhattisgarh, an official said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the semi-high-speed train was traveling between Durg and Bhilai Nagar railway stations under Raipur division of South East Central Railway (SECR) in the state to Bilaspur, they said.
“Somebody hurled a stone at the train from outside, which damaged a window of the E1 coach last evening. But no one was injured in the incident,” the official said. He said the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was informed about it and a probe was launched. The Vande Bharat Express train between Nagpur in Maharashtra and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh is the sixth such service in the country which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
On the Nagpur-Bilaspur route, the train is covering a distance of 412 km on this route at a speed of about 130 kmph. The train takes 5 hours 30 minutes to cover this distance with 6 stoppages at Nagpur, Gondia, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur.
The new Vande Bharat train on this route has got 16 chair-car coaches with a capacity to carry 1128 passengers. Apart from this, the train is loaded with facilities and is fitted with cameras along with several features for the safety of the passengers.
Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express train is the second train of Maharashtra State and sixth train of India. Earlier, there were 5 trains on different routes in India. The inaugural Vande Bharat Express began operations, between Delhi and Varanasi.
The country’s first semi-high-speed railway also serves Kanpur and Allahabad. The second Vande Bharat train was started between Delhi and Shri Vaishno Devi Mata, Katra. Now the third train is running between Mumbai and Gandhinagar. The fourth Vande Bharat Express, which runs from Una in Himachal Pradesh to New Delhi, was also dedicated by PM Modi.
