Tokyo Olympics: Boxers Satish, Sindhu, Atanu Das, men’s hockey team boost India’s pride

In boxing, Satish Kumar defeated Ricardo Brown of Jamaica to enter the quarterfinals of the men’s 91kg super heavyweight category. Archer Atanu Das took his campaign forward by defeating former Olympic and world champion Oh Jinhyek of South Korea. India defeated Argentina 3-1 in the men’s hockey Pool A match to book a place in the quarter-finals. PV Sindhu entered the quarterfinals in Badminton women’s singles. Rahi Sarnobat scored 96, 97, 94 (287/300) in the precision round of 25m pistol qualification. Rovers Arjun Jat and Arvind Singh finished fifth in the men’s lightweight double sculls Final B with a time of 6.29.66 and were 11th overall.

India’s badminton star PV Sindhu has reached the quarterfinals of women’s singles. Sindhu defeated world No. 12 Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark 21-15, 21-13 in 41 minutes in the pre-quarterfinals.

Hockey

Boxing
In boxing, Satish Kumar has reached the quarterfinals in the men’s 91 kg weight category. Satish, who got a bye in the first round, defeated Ricardo Brown of Jamaica 4-1 in the pre-quarterfinal match. Satish is now one win away from securing a medal.

Archery
In archery, India’s Atanu Das made a big upset defeating Jhinyeok Oh of South Korea in a shoot-out. Xinyak has won two Olympic gold medals. In 2012, he won the men’s singles gold. At the same time, this time he has been a part of the Korean team that won the team event gold. Both the archers were tied 5-5 after five sets. The Korean archer scored 9 in the shoot-out. Atanu Das won the match with a perfect score of 10. Atanu Das has reached the pre-quarterfinals. Earlier, he defeated Dan Yucheng of Chinese Taipei 6-4 in his opening match of the day.
