At an event ahead of the release of his Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Enemy, Vishal promised to financially support 1800 students who were earlier funded by Puneeth Rajkumar.
The untimely demise of Chandan star Puneet Rajkumar on Friday, October 29 left many in shock, with fans, colleagues and friends mourning the actor’s death on social media. Actor Vishal, who was a good friend of Puneet, announced that he would look after the 1,800 students whose education was being funded by the late actor. Vishal announced this at the pre-release event of his upcoming film Anime, which stars Arya in the lead role.
“Puneet Rajkumar was not only a good actor but also a good friend. I have never seen a down-to-earth superstar like him. He was doing a lot of social activities. I promise to take care of 1,800 students getting free education from Puneet Rajkumar from next year.
Renowned Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar’s son Puneeth Rajkumar was cremated with state honors on Sunday, October 31 at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru in the presence of family, friends, elected representatives and fans.
The versatile actor was known to support many social issues for free. With education close to his heart, he sponsored the fees of thousands of students every year and also gave financial aid to several Kannada medium students in the state. In 2013, she was appointed as a brand ambassador, along with actor Radhika Pandit, to urge students to utilize the vacant seats available in the Right to Education (RTE) quota. As the brand ambassador of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Puneet worked towards reducing drop-out rates in schools.
Meanwhile, Vishal and Arya starrer anime is all set to release on November 4 in Tamil and Telugu on the occasion of Diwali. Helmed by Anand Shankar, the film also stars actors Mamta Mohandas, Prakash Raj and Mrinalini Ravi in pivotal roles.
