After the Allahabad High Court approved the construction of Banke Bihari Corridor in Vrindavan, veteran actor-turned-politician Hema Malini expressed happiness over the decision and said it will benefit everyone.
Earlier on Monday, the Allahabad High Court had given green signal to the Uttar Pradesh government’s plan to build a corridor to the famous Banke Bihari temple in Mathura for the convenience of devotees.
“We were very happy; the corridor will be built and the path will be cleared. Devotees can visit comfortably. It will be developed in a very beautiful way. Everyone is going to benefit from this,” Malini said.
A bench of Chief Justice Pretinkar Diwakar and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava passed the order while hearing a PIL filed by Anand Sharma and another person from Mathura.
The government has also been directed to remove encroachments in and around the temple.
Earlier, the state government placed before the court a plan related to the development of the corridor which would involve purchase of about five acres of land around the temple to facilitate darshan and puja to devotees.
HC fixed January 31, 2024 as the next date of hearing on the PIL.
