AMU Centenary Celebrations: PM Modi addressing AMU today

New Delhi: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) host its online centenary celebrations today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is address the AMU centenary celebrations today through video conferencing. The Prime Minister will also issue a postage stamp during the event. This is the first time PM Modi will participate in any university program.

Along with PM Modi, the Chancellor of the university Syedna Mufadalal Saifuddin and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Pok Nishank will also be present on the occasion.

“AMU became a university in 1920, which through an act of the Legislative Council of India elevated the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental (MAO) College to the status of a central university. MAO College was founded in 1877 by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, “PMO statement issued on Monday 21 December.

At the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University, Mr. Pokhriyal of AMU said, “I am honored to be a part of this festival. I congratulate all the faculty, students and their parents on this occasion. Character building, nation building and Capacity. Building is our responsibility and AMU has always fulfilled its responsibility towards the nation.
