Ro-Pax ship service will function as a Passage to South Gujarat and Saurashtra locale and it will cover the distance between the two locations from 370 km to only 90 km.
The Ropax ferry services will operate between Surat & Saurashtra from today. It will reduce the distance between South Gujarat and Saurashtra region from 370 km to just 90 km. The ferry service would annually transport about five lakh passengers, 80,000 passenger vehicles, 50,000 two-wheelers and 30,000 trucks.
Starting of Ro-Pax service is a big step towards the Prime Minister’s vision of harnessing waterways and integrating them with the economic development of the country. PM Modi will also interact with local users of the service during the event.
Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Shipping Minister says, “This ferry service will reduce the distance between Surat & Saurashtra from 317 km to just 60 kilometres.”
