Terrorists opened fire on police vehicle in Srinagar; 2 security personnel killed

Police sources said the firing lasted for about five minutes and the terrorists came to know about the movement of the bus.

Two Jammu and Kashmir policemen were killed and 12 others were injured in the terrorist attack in Jewan area on the outskirts of Srinagar. The policemen were in a bus when the terrorists fired indiscriminately at them and injured 14 jawans.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “Among the injured police personnel, 01 ASI and a selection grade constable succumbed to their injuries and were martyred.”

Earlier today, there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Rangret area of ​​Srinagar. Two Lashkar terrorists were killed in the encounter.

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Adil Ahmed Wani son Bashir Ahmed Wani resident of Darmdoor Shopian (Pakistan trained “A” category terrorist), while another slain terrorist as per reliable sources is a foreign terrorist. Still, the same is being explored further. Both the terrorists killed were affiliated to the banned terror outfit Lashkar,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said.

Arms and ammunition including 2 AK rifles and other incriminating material were recovered from the encounter site.
