The idol of Khajrana Ganesh temple is made only from vermilion

Khajrana Ganesh temple of Indore is famous all over the world. The main idol in this temple is of Lord Ganpati, which is made only of vermilion. However, apart from Lord Ganesha, there are temples of other gods and goddesses in this complex. The name of Khajrana Ganesh Temple is at the fore in the country’s richest Ganesh temples. Crores of rupees are offered here every year, in which foreign currencies and gold and silver jewelery are also included. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha is adorned with gold ornaments worth three crores here.

The miracle of the inverted swastika behind Ganesha

In the Khajrana temple, people make an inverted swastika symbol on the wall behind the temple of Lord Ganesha i.e. on the back of Ganeshji and after the fulfillment of the wish, come again and make a straight swastika. It is said that this trend has been going on here for many years. It is believed that every wish is fulfilled by making an inverted swastika in this temple. There is another belief that tying a thread while doing three rounds of the temple also fulfills wishes.

Khajrana Ganesh Temple of Indore was built in 1735 by Maharani Ahilyabai of Holkar dynasty. According to the beliefs, devotees make three rounds of this temple and tie a thread in the wall of the temple.

It is said about the ancient statue of this temple that it was seen in a dream to a local Pandit Mangal Bhatt. Hearing about this dream, Queen Ahilyabai Holkar excavated and got the idol installed from under the ground. From where the idol was taken out, there is a water tank which is right in front of the temple.

33 small and big temples in the premises

There are 33 small and big temples in the Khajrana Ganesh temple complex, where there are temples of gods and goddesses including Lord Ram, Shiva, Maa Durga, Sai Baba, Hanuman ji. There is also an ancient Peepal tree in the temple premises, which is believed to be a wish fulfilling tree.

The 10-day Ganeshotsav begins at the Khajrana Ganesh Temple on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. These days, Bhajan Sandhya, Maha Aarti, Bhog of different types of laddus and flower adornment are done every day. Here 51 thousand modaks are distributed among the devotees. It is said that the wishes of every devotee who visit this temple are fulfilled.
